The police department was established in 1956 and has evolved over the years into a professional and dedicated department.

In March of 2006, the police department received accreditation status through the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) and operates under stringent police standards. Since our initial accreditation, we have undergone two reassessments by PLEAC, each time being awarded re-certification, most recently in 2012. Our next reassessment will be in 2015. As an accredited law enforcement agency, we are committed to providing exceptional police services.

The police department has 21 full-time police officers and 3 full-time Administrative Assistants. We strive each and every day to improve on our delivery of services, strengthen community-police relations, and keep the crime rate low in our community. It is our honor to serve the nearly 22,000 residents with professionalism, dedication and commitment.

As Chief, you have my pledge that the Murrysville Police Department will continue to advance in the areas of training and state-of-the-art technology and equipment that will afford us the opportunity to better serve you.
