Our Mission 

The Murrysville Parks and Recreation Foundation supports the programs and facilities of the Murrysville Parks and Recreation Departments. 

Our Purpose

To fulfill our mission, the Foundation solicits funds through grants, gifts and donations to enhance existing facilities and to develop new parks and recreation programs, services, facilities and technology.

Meet our Members

The Foundation consists of a seven-member Board of Directors, including one council member, the Mayor, the Director of Finance, the Director of Parks and Recreation, a member from the Municipal Parks and Recreation Committee, and two residents at large.

President: Tom Vincent Tom Vincent

A graduate of Franklin Regional and lifelong Murrysville resident, Tom is excited to have the opportunity to align his professional experience with the mission and vision of the Foundation. Tom, a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner, has overseen the Accounting and Financial Reporting Functions of several 501(c)3 non-profit organizations and currently is a leader in the Internal Audit & Advisory Services Department of Highmark Health. Tom loves the recreational opportunities that Murrysville offers, also serving as an officer of the Murrysville Swim Club. Tom resides with his wife, Becky, and two children.

Vice President: Doug Ekerothdoug Ekeroth

Doug is a 20 year resident of Murrysville and has seen the many changes in the area for recreation. Doug enjoys the outdoors while hiking and biking and supports Boy Scouts, Rails-to-Trails, as well as Western Pennsylvania nature organizations. Doug is a Registered Professional Engineer and a Certified Project Manager and has overseen many significant projects both professionally and personally.

Treasurer: Diane HemingDiane P. Heming

Originally from Greensburg, Pa, Diane has worked in Finance with the municipality for 25 years. She enjoys crafts, kayaking, and is often seen volunteering at the recreation department events throughout the year. Diane is delighted for the opportunity to see this Foundation grow for the betterment of the parks and recreation departments.

Secretary: Carly GreeneCarly Greene

After serving ten years active duty in the Marine Corps, Carly returned home and earned her degree in Resort Recreation Management and Tourism from Slippery Rock University.  She was then fortunate to begin her civilian career with the Murrysville Recreation Department in 2011. Camping, hiking and biking on the local Rails-to-Trails, and kayaking are just a few of Carly's recreational pursuits. During work she enjoys fostering community relationships and providing a variety of recreational opportunities in the variety of parks that Murrysville has to offer. She is excited to work with such a great team to advance the importance of parks and recreation.

Parks and Recreation Commission Liaison: Dave MetzgarDave Metzgar

Dave Metzgar has been a resident of Murrysville for almost 25 years along with his wife, Dana, a high school English teacher at Franklin Regional. They have 2 daughters and and have had many dogs over the years, and all of the family members have enjoyed the many parks of Murrysville. After many years of volunteering in the parks, he joined the Parks and Recreation Commission in 2017 and currently enjoys the Foundation board, as well.

Council Liaison: Loren Kase

Loren Kase

Loren serves on Murrysville's Council and has been a resident of this great community since attending Franklin Regional at Newlonsburg Elementary.  After graduation from Franklin Regional, Loren served a total of 8 years in the US Coast Guard and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Loren and his wife Krystal (also a Franklin Regional Graduate) have since made Murrysville their home with their three young boys Ryland, Grayson, and Gannon.  Loren has enjoyed watching Murrysville expand into what has become a welcoming, self sustaining community and works daily to ensure continuous improvement of our community, recreation and parks.

Mayor Regis SynanMayor Regis J. Synan

Mayor Regis Synan currently serves as Mayor for Murrysville and resides here with his wife, Diane. He enjoys a variety of recreational pursuits including hunting, fishing, travel, and is frequently found visiting community events and walking in Murrysville's many parks, reserves and trails. His proven experience with non-profit organizations will be an asset to this board, as well.
